The Shortcut vs. The Long Road: A Reflection (01/20/25)

⚠️ The shortcut is a façade.
It gives you the illusion of progress, the mirage of arriving sooner, but it comes at a cost. It whispers lies, convincing you that the long road isn’t worth the effort—that the journey you’re so eager to bypass has no value. But let me tell you something: the shortcut always costs more than it seems.

  • “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12)

The Truth About the Long Road

👉 The long road builds character.
It’s not just about reaching the destination; it’s about who you become along the way. Every step shapes you, instills patience, and strengthens the fruits of the Spirit within you.

  • “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3-4)

What Most People Miss 👇

🔹 The journey with God is a becoming.
In Christ, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), but this newness doesn’t create a different person—it reveals and restores who God always intended you to be. The process uncovers the truth of your identity, pulling back the layers of doubt and distortion to show you who He says you are, the person He fearfully and wonderfully made.

  • “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Submission to the Process

🔹 If God has ordained the plan, the journey is His.
🔹 If the timing is from Him, the process belongs to Him.
Wisdom submits to the process because it recognizes the value in preparation. When we embrace God’s timing, we find that the process itself is a blessing. And here’s the beauty: if you can find contentment in the process, you will reap rewards even before reaching the destination.

  • “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:4)

✨ Let’s walk in wisdom together.

May this bless you in Christ,
